What is THCa and why is it legal?

THCa is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the raw cannabis plant. Current research states that THCa molecules don't bind with CB1 or CB2 receptors present in the central nervous system. It is the precursor to THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to convert into the psychoactive THC.

Under the 2018 Farm Bill, industrial hemp, a variety of the Cannabis plant with minimal Δ9THC content was removed from the list of controlled substances. The total concentration of Δ9THC helps distinguish controlled marijuana from legal hemp. Because of the non-psychoactive effects of this compound, it is legal to buy and sell hemp-derived THCa and products containing less than 0.3% or less Δ9THC.

What is Kratom and is it right for me?

“Natural kratom comes from the mitragyna speciosa, a tropical evergreen tree in the coffee family native to Southeast Asia whose leaves have been used for centuries as an herbal supplement in traditional medicines.

Kratom is not a drug. Kratom is not an opiate. Kratom is not a synthetic substance. Naturally occurring Kratom is a safe herbal supplement that behaves as a partial mu-opioid receptor agonist and is used for pain management, energy, even depression and anxiety that are common among Americans. Kratom contains no opiates, but it does bind to the same receptor sites in the brain. Chocolate, coffee, exercise and even human breast milk hit these receptor sites in a similar fashion.”

- American Kratom Association

“In the United States, where it is estimated between 11 - 15 million American consume kratom regularly, and kratom products are typically sold as powders, capsules, [etc.]… The reasons for Kratom use in this region largely mirror those in the U.S., including as a mild stimulant by agricultural workers and as an alternative to opioids for pain relief and addiction treatment. Such traditional use is reported to benefit quality of life, and improve social and occupational behavior, with little evidence of serious personal or social harm.”
